Join us on an exciting Business Crawl designed exclusively for school-aged girls in the 7th, 8th and 9th grades, as we embark on a journey to discover and be inspired by the incredible women entrepreneurs in our local Rahway community.
This empowering day will open doors to a world of possibilities, as we visit a diverse range of women-owned businesses spanning various industries. Through interactive tours, engaging demonstrations, and insightful conversations, these visionary women will share their journeys, challenges, and triumphs, igniting a spark of inspiration within each participant.
By showcasing the power and potential of entrepreneurship, we aim to inspire our young girls to dream big, pursue their passions, and shatter any glass ceilings that may stand in their way. It’s a day to witness firsthand the strength, creativity, and innovation that women bring to the business world, leaving the girls with a renewed sense of belief in their own abilities and the confidence to carve out their own paths of success.

Become a Mentor or Business Inspiration!

Whether you are a Mentor/Volunteer or Business Owner you will be creating and enriching an experience for these 7th, 8th, and 9th grade young girls aspiring to be business owners one day. The role offers three compelling reasons:
Empowering the Next Generation: By mentoring these girls, you can empower them to pursue entrepreneurship, opening their minds to new possibilities and fostering their confidence and skills to chase their dreams.
Developing Self-Confidence and Leadership Skills: Your mentorship helps cultivate self-assurance and leadership abilities in these young girls, essential qualities for success in the business world and beyond.
Promoting Diversity and Gender Equality: Mentoring young girls as future business owners contributes to breaking down gender barriers and promoting diversity, creating a more inclusive and equitable entrepreneurial landscape.

Event Schedule

Date and Time

Tuesday, July 30th, 2024
12PM–4PM
Rain or Shine

Location

Tented, paved Seating Area on E. Cherry Street
(between the Cherry Street Market and the Rahway Grill)

Orientation

All participants, Volunteer Mentors and Administrators will meet at 12PM for a short greeting and introduction to the event. Handouts such as bags, punch cards and maps will be distributed.
Four GirlBoss Groups will be created, with 8-9 girls per group.
Each group will have 1-2 Volunteer Mentors as trip leaders.

Business Crawl

The Business Crawl visits to various women-owned businesses will begin at 1PM. Each GirlBoss Group will visit a different business on the map for approximately 5-7 minutes.The visit will include demonstrations and personal inspirational stories from each of the Women Business Owners. The business owners may choose to give the girls a give-away (i.e., food samples, make-up tools, trade tools, or a token of their choice) to help commemorate the experience. The girls will fill in their punch cards after leaving each business, and head to the next stop on the map.

Closing

All participants, Volunteer Mentors and Administrators will meet again at 4:15PM at the seating area on Cherry Street for a short wrap-up and send-off.
Certificates or acknowledgements of the GirlBoss participation will be given to all of the girls to commemorate this unique experience.
